Menus Beyond Organic was founded in 2012 by John Short, offering menu design featuring local organic and sustainably produced items for event planners, corporations, and anybody else searching for better ways to feed whomever they wanted to feed. ┬áThat concept never took flight, but in the process of preparing attractive written proposals, John struggled to find outstanding food photos that weren’t copyright protected – eventually he decided to start painting pictures to make his presentations stand out.

Then something unexpected happened: people started asking where the pictures came from, and how they could buy copies (or originals) of the artwork.  The first paintings were donated to charity events, where they sold surprisingly well, and thus a new business was born.
